Deputy Minister of Police Oversees Vehicle Handover to Strengthen Festive Policing ok

Today in Gauteng, Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale joined the National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, to hand over 150 police vehicles as part of efforts to boost policing resources ahead of ongoing crime-prevention and safer-communities operations.

The handover formed part of the national Safer Festive Season Operations, aimed at improving police visibility and response times across high-crime areas. The new fleet includes bakkies, sedans, and SUVs, which SAPS will deploy to frontline units.

Mathale said the additional vehicles would help officers respond faster to emergencies and improve service delivery at station level. He stressed that police visibility remains critical during the holiday period.

SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola attended the event and confirmed that stations facing mobility challenges would receive priority. He said the vehicles would support visible policing, detective services, and tactical units.

Gauteng remains a key focus for festive-season operations due to increased movement and higher crime risks during December. SAPS has also deployed extra personnel and intensified patrols across the province.
