Julius Malema insists he will stay in EFF despite Parliament pressure

EFF leader Julius Malema has said that even if Parliament removes him, he will remain part of the Economic Freedom Fighters.

He made the remarks while speaking to supporters this week. Malema said his political life does not depend on a seat in the National Assembly. Instead, he said the EFF exists beyond Parliament.

Parliament tensions

His comments come as tensions continue in Parliament. In recent months, clashes have taken place between the Speaker and opposition MPs. As a result, several members have faced disciplinary action.

Malema said Parliament does not define his identity. He said the EFF was built in communities and through mass mobilisation. Therefore, no decision taken in the House can remove him from the movement.

“The EFF will survive with or without Parliament,” Malema said. He added that the party’s struggle will continue outside formal institutions if necessary.

Party stance

Meanwhile, Malema accused Parliament of targeting radical voices. He claimed that leaders who challenge the system often face punishment. According to him, these actions aim to weaken opposition parties.

However, he said the EFF will not retreat. Instead, the party will strengthen its structures across the country. He said members will continue to engage with communities and workers.

Political analysts say Malema’s statement reflects growing frustration among opposition parties. They also say Parliament has become a centre of political conflict. Consequently, disciplinary cases are likely to increase.

In the past, the EFF has clashed with the Speaker and other parties in the House. The party has staged walkouts and raised points of order. These actions have resulted in suspensions and warnings.

Despite this, Malema said leadership does not depend on a parliamentary seat. He urged supporters to remain loyal to the party’s mission. He said economic freedom remains the main goal.

Malema concluded by saying the EFF will stand firm in its principles. He said political pressure will not divide the movement. Instead, he promised that the party would continue to fight for land reform, jobs and social justice.
