Malema Addresses Thousands at EFF June 16 Rally in Tshwane

TSHWANE – President and Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), , addressed tens of thousands of young people gathered at the Union Buildings in Tshwane on June 16, delivering a message centered on youth empowerment, political participation, and the future of South Africa.


The rally, held to commemorate Youth Day, attracted supporters from across the country who gathered to reflect on the historic significance of June 16 and discuss the challenges facing young people today. The event was marked by singing, speeches, and calls for greater economic opportunities, quality education, and job creation.


Addressing the crowd, Malema said the youth of South Africa had declared a clear political position. He described the gathering as a demonstration of young people’s determination to shape the country’s future and hold leaders accountable for addressing issues such as unemployment, poverty, and inequality.


Throughout his speech, Malema emphasized the importance of political activism and civic engagement among young people. He argued that the next generation must play a leading role in influencing policies that affect their lives and communities. EFF leader encouraged supporters to remain organized and committed to advancing the party’s vision for economic freedom and social justice.


The slogan “Not on My Watch” featured prominently during the rally. Supporters using it to express their opposition to policies and conditions they believe continue to disadvantage many young South Africans. According to participants, the phrase symbolized a commitment to challenging unemployment, corruption, and economic exclusion.


The atmosphere at the Union Buildings reflected the significance of Youth Day, a national occasion that honors the courage and sacrifice of the students who participated in the 1976 Soweto Uprising. Speakers at the event drew parallels between the struggles of previous generations and the challenges confronting today’s youth.
