Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has urged Amakhosi to avoid panic signings during the January transfer window, despite rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns strengthening their squads.
Pirates and Sundowns have both added players in recent weeks. Chiefs, however, have only signed young midfielder Xhosa Manyana on loan. Khune believes that decision should not cause concern.
According to Khune, Chiefs already have a large squad. Several players have yet to feature this season. He warned that adding more signings now could send the wrong message to those still waiting for opportunities.
Khune said the club should first give the current squad a fair chance to prove themselves. He believes decisions on reinforcements should be made later in the year, once the technical team has fully assessed the group.
He also cautioned against signing players simply to match rival clubs. Khune used a sharp analogy, saying Chiefs should not go into debt just because a neighbour buys an expensive car.
In his view, pressure-driven signings often create more problems than solutions. He stressed that patience remains key during the January window.
Khune added that Chiefs must trust their process and back the players already at the club. He believes stability and proper planning will benefit the team more than rushed moves.
For now, Khune feels Amakhosi should stay calm, avoid unnecessary pressure, and focus on building consistency with the squad they have.
