Polokwane – Popular Lekompo music artist Shebeshxt has been denied bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, meaning he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
The artist, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared in court on Tuesday, 17 December 2025, where the magistrate ruled that he failed to provide exceptional circumstances required for bail in cases involving serious offences. According to the prosecution, Shebeshxt is facing multiple serious charges, including:Attempted murderRobbery with aggravating circumstances Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm Negligent discharge of a firearm Possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The charges are linked to an alleged road-rage shooting incident that reportedly took place in Polokwane in October 2025.The court also heard that the accused allegedly committed some of the offences while already out on bail for another case, a factor that weighed heavily against him. Prosecutors argued that releasing him could pose a risk to public safety and undermine the justice system.As a result, the magistrate ruled against granting bail.
Shebeshxt is expected to return to court on 18 February 2026 for further proceedings.The case has attracted significant public attention due to Shebeshxt’s popularity in the Lekompo music scene, with fans closely following developments.The matter remains before the court.
